Homesteading: Reflections #27: Why do I REALLY want to grow food?

I went deep this morning in my reflecting …

In the spring, we can’t wait to get our hands in the soil — and I think that that right there is the biggest “why” behind my desire to garden.

Getting my hands in the soil

Actually, as I think about it, it is why I’ve tried to garden for the past 25 years.

It’s definitely not because I’ve gotten an abundance of foods from my garden, because I have not been successful at that.

Rather, I think it is for that connection with the earth, with “all that is” that works interconnectedly, creating, well, all that is.

I want to be a part of the natural workings of the world.

I want to get my hands in the soil; connect with nature, work with nature, steward nature, and, yes, benefit from nature.

This year, I will be much more conscious of how I make that connection as I garden.
