Will this be a win or a groan?
I don’t know but they are currently in the oven!
I wanted to use up some of my sourdough discard .. and see if it would work. Why not biscuits!
NOTE: I’m writing this “as we go”!!
RECIPE
(Preheat the oven to 425f and get a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and ready to go)
- 1 cup of flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup butter (chilled)
Mixed gently to a crumble - don’t heat up that butter too much
Gentle mix in:
- 1 cup sourdough starter discard (pre-feeding, apparently) .. again be gentle!
Onto floured board, gently pat the dough into a 1” thick round
Using a sharp edged 2-3” cookie cutter, cut into rounds
(Note: the sharp edges won't pinch the edges together, which, then, allows the biscuits to rise nicely)
Space onto cookie sheet about 2” apart
Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
NOTE: I couldn’t find my cookie cutters - it has been a while - so these guys are bite size
