We built a deck and we added chairs. But the high winds kept tossing the chairs around.
So… we replaced the chairs with large logs!
The Wood
Do you remember the firewood that I said “yes” to, even though we don’t burn wood for heat?
Well, I’m positive that I have been presented a solution to a problem that hasn’t even arisen yet. Something is unfolding and, one day, I will be grateful for the wood.
In the meantime, we needed seating on the new deck and we had several large pieces of tree trunk at our disposal.
Moving the Wood
We had the vision, but how were two old people going to get that large piece of wood up onto that deck?
It was easier that I thought!
We flipped it on its side, onto our handy-dandy cart and wheeled it to the stairs.
Then, it was just a matter of flipping it over, onto the first step, and then the next, and onto the deck. A few shoves and we had ourselves a seat!
Repeat for the other side and the job was done. Easy peezy
Preserving the Wood
The logs and deck will remain “as is” for the winter.
The deck is made with treated wood, so, hopefully, that will be fine.
The logs may need some polyurethane to help keep the bugs and water out. That will have to be done in the spring when the weather warms up.
For now? We are very pleased with our accomplishments. A job well done. - Debbie
