Our Hoophouses #7: Will the hoophouses survive high winds?

This is part 7 in a 14 part series: Our Hoophouses

Yesterday, they predicted wind gusts of 80km/hour

We, retirees, have tried our best to secure the frame and plastic, to keep it together during high winds.

The wind, yesterday, had it rocking, while the smaller green one,  as usual, barely even wobbled. My plan is to move it, but it seems to be in the best place, wind-wise.

Yesterday

Rick and I added more straps to the larger Hoophouse. We put one 3” wide strap around the front, over top of the plastic.
And, we put some straps on the inside, attaching the sides to the t-posts for our new trellis in there. They definitely helped.

Today

First thing I did, today, when it was light enough to see, was to check on the greenhouse and it was still there!

But it is only November .. and we have, yet, to deal with ice and snow.

One day at a time. That’s all we can do.
