Organizing my freeze-dried foods - that’s the big job for after the holidays
And, then, this happened ...
The good news: I have 4 shelves of foods organized and easily accessible.
The bad needs: everything that was on those shelves is now strewn around the kitchen, adding to the chaos and disorganization.
One step forward and two steps back: the dance of progress!
What was
When I started using my freeze-dryer, I had a great system for storage of my jars of preserved food.
And, then, as I preserved more and more foods, that system no longer worked and I was shoving jars wherever they would fit.
The outcome? I can’t find anything.
The Goal
The goal is to organize everything by shelf, putting all the jars of one item on its own shelf.
I had started out by putting all the veggies together, all the meats together, and all the fruit together.
The first system worked - until it didn’t.
Now, as I’m gardening more, and preserving more, and cooking from scratch more, my system needs to adapt along with it.
The progress
This morning, as I was already standing in a chaotic room, having had to move furniture into different rooms, making room for the Christmas dinner table, somehow, I ended up taking everything out of two cupboards and organizing the first shelves of my new pantry system. (Can you say procrastination?)
Tomorrow, I will have to be very disciplined and get the rest of the kitchen tidied back up and ready for the holidays.
The clock is ticking and I don’t have a lot of time left to get things under control.
