This is part 10 in a 31 part series: Sourdough Journey

I am so enjoying my journey with sourdough. Now, I have to admit that I haven’t made a lot of sourdough bread but I have been learning lots about the wild yeast that makes the bread AND I have been finding a lot of master bakers who have years of experience making the starters and the different styles of loaves.

The Sourdough Whisperer

This week I happened upon Elaine Boddy’s book “The Sourdough Whisperer”, which sounds fascinating and is now our “Monthly Book Draw”. (And, I can’t wait for my personal copy to arrive!)

In the meantime, I had the pleasure of having a conversation with Elaine, as well as watching some of her videos.

The first thing that I said to Elaine when we chatted was that she is a great teacher! She makes everything so simple and easy to follow. Sometimes we get caught up in rules and forget the intention. Elaine, to me, uses the intention behind the science of each step to walk the viewer, (or reader, I am assuming), through the process, keeping it simple. I like her style!

In this following video, Elaine announces the release of her book, The Sourdough Whisperer, and explains what it is about.
Check it out.

Wanting to learn more, I found this next video where Elaine walks us through her bread-making process.

How wonderful it is to have a video to guide me through making my next sourdough. It’s like having her right by my side.
I wonder what else she teaches in her book!

Today, I bought some all-purpose flour and I’m ready to go.

Thanks to Elaine for sharing her knowledge AND for being such a great support and teacher.

Sourdough-making:  are you ready?

Homesteadian.com Book Giveaway

Remember: get your name in for the free draw by posting a recipe or DIY homesteading project. And if you don’t win the book and you don’t get it as a gift, well, it’s time for some shopping! Your sourdough will thank you.

And, I do hope you will share your personal sourdough journey with us. A blog series would be a great way to share what you learn.

Happy baking,
- Debbie
